CRUX Engineering was commissioned by Bilfinger Berger Specialtiefbau to perform a thermal design for the connection of two diaphragm walls of an excavation pit in Düsseldorf. The connection could not be executed as a D-wall, due to existing piping and underground structures. Also, a temporary extension of the D-Wall was necessary to seal the building pit form groundwater and prevent uplift.

Both extensions were carried out by means of ground freezing. CRUX Engineering is also involved in the monitoring by conducting ‘best fit’ calculations.
